South Africa is an amazing travel destination to visit and one of the most culturally and geographically diverse places on earth situated on the Southern tip of Africa, filled with a diverse land of charmcultureadventurewildlife and the natural untamed wildernesses is astonishing with a wide range of incredible experiences for travellers needs and interests.

Discover the gourmet restaurantsimpressive art scenevibrant nightlife, sample some of the world’s finest wines at the myriad wine estates dotting the Cape Winelands and beautiful beaches of both Cape Town and the remote KwaZulu Natal’s sub-tropical and untouched beaches or explore the historical attractions of the Zululand battlefields of KwaZulu-Natal.

Above all else, South Africa has some of the worlds best kept secrets when it comes to wildlife parks with a diverse population of wild animals and ecosystems that offer extraordinary game-viewing in untamed wilderness and where wildlife roams freely across massive unfenced game reserves such as the world-famous Greater Kruger National Park and Kruger National Park itself.

The private game reserves in our opinion would be the best option to experience South Africa due to the exclusivity with only a limited number of vehicles on a special sighting and the opportunity to view the Magnificent Seven being the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Cape Buffalo and Rhino) with the add-on of the African Wild Dog (Painted Wolf) and the Cheetah. Wildlife sightings based on self-drive are far less controlled in various other game parks throughout Africa, making safaris feel crowded and commercialized at times.

So, whether you are travelling on honeymoon or a special occasion, there is no short fall of intimate and romantic lodges and hotels. As for families with young or teenaged children there are other properties that are better suited for your experience and we can certainly make your travels come alive. The well-established infrastructure that South Africa offer makes it suitable to travel from a remote region on safari to a vibrant city such as Cape Town with excellent inter-connecting short flights from the various world-class airports within South Africa and even connecting to the amazing neighbouring African countries is made easy. Do not mis out on the opportunity as there is truly something for everyone in South Africa for you to COME and, LIVE IT, CAPTURE IT and SHARE IT.

CAPE PENINSULA

Extending into the Atlantic, the rugged Cape Peninsula marks the southwesternmost point of the African continent. It features pristine white-sand beaches met by craggy mountains interspersed with quaint little coastal towns. Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope can be found along the southern end of this spectacularly scenic peninsula, while the northern tip is crowned by the world-famous Table Mountain which towers over the city of Cape Town. Visitors can look forward to a wide selection of activities including: hopping on a boat ride to Seal Island from Hout Bay, exploring the magnificent Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, and viewing the colony of African penguins on Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town. Don’t miss the opportunity to take in the breathtaking views from the top of Table Mountain.

SOUTHERN KRUGER

The southern area of South Africa’s most famous game reserve, the Kruger National Pak, is separated from lush farmland by the Crocodile River, a popular area to spot crocodiles, playful hippos and thirsty wildlife. The game viewing area is known as the ‘Southern Circle’ and is renowned for its rhinos and lions, with different prides boasting an array of different hunting techniques and behaviours to observe. Near the Hippo Pool, visitors can view ancient San rock paintings. The Southern Kruger offers incredible game-viewing opportunities and magnificent landscapes covered in African bushveld and savannah.

LOWVELD

Sandwiched between Mozambique and the Mpumalanga area of the Drakensberg, the Lowveld is renowned for it subtropical climate, abundant wildlife, and ancient history. This area encompasses a number of spectacular game reserves including the world-famous Kruger National Park, vast farmlands, and the popular Panorama Route. This area serves as an excellent base from which to explore the Kruger. Visitors can explore the old gold rush town of Barberton, enjoy the city lights of Nelspruit and stay at a variety of comfortable country lodges.

SOUTHERN HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

Located in western Zimbabwe, Hwange National Park (formerly Wankie Game Reserve) is the largest natural reserve in the country and is famous for its rich diversity of wildlife. Home to one of the biggest elephant populations in the world, as well as around 100 mammal species, the park is popular among animal lovers. Several protected species inhabit the awe-inspiring open landscapes, including the endangered wild dog, critically endangered black rhino, and rare roan and sable - along with lion, cheetah, and around 500 bird species. Adventurers can look forward to guided bush hikes, game drives, and horse riding safaris, all of which offer excellent photographic opportunities.

AFRICAN BUSH CAMPS SOMALISA CAMP | SOUTHERN HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

Hwange National Park is a land of contrasts from dense teak and acacia forest to vast open savannah, offering guests an exhibition of raw and diverse Africa. This intimate bush camp is perfect for a relaxing Hwange safari with friends and loved ones. Somalisa Camp is a place where tranquillity meets adventure. Where one moment you are sipping on your gin and tonic, listening to the distant baritone roar of a lion coalition off on the hunt, and the next you are gazing over at a congregation of elephants at your doorstep, peacefully sharing a sundowner with you. Every person is part of the community that helps create the magical and welcoming feeling you get when you visit Somalisa, you arrive as a guest, but you leave a part of the family.

Nature and luxury are in harmony at Somalisa Camp. With natural wood and copper finishes, the organic features of the bush fuse perfectly with the deluxe style. Kudhinda, the Zimbabwean national material, is paired with modern decor creating an authentic contemporary African fusion. At the edge of the expansive deck in the main area, sits an elephant pool which is frequented by elephant families, which is a true highlight at this beautiful camp.

Chundukwa River Lodge is located on a horse ranch, set alongside the Zambezi River just 25kms from Livingstone Town. We offer clients a farm-stay experience within a natural garden of beauty and diversity, unique accommodation, home-grown and healthy food - and the opportunity to relax, horse-ride or immerse yourself in a few or all of the bucket-list experiences that Livingstone and Victoria Falls has to offer.

Our menus are always guided by what is available in the garden and our surrounding neighbours, from whom we support locally. We have a farm-to-fork philosophy which means we like to serve food that is seasonal and that reflects our “pick, clean and serve” approach.

Our boutique lodge offers five river-facing chalets and a family-friendly cottage. Guests stay with us on a fully-inclusive basis, which includes all meals, house drinks, a sunset cruise experience and the opportunity to have a private vehicle with driver for a day trip to Victoria Falls. Longer stay guests may opt for additional complimentary experiences with us.

Khwai Private Reserve, one of Botswana’s best kept secrets, is home to Sable Alley. This light, bright camp showcases comfortable luxury amid the game rich floodplains of Khwai. The canvas sided rooms have spacious, beautifully designed interiors with a large veranda encouraging relaxation in the afternoon; the main area exudes comfort with large be-cushioned sofas and stylish accessories that reflect the natural surroundings. For those hot days, we have a refreshing pool overlooking the lagoon. The cuisine mirrors the accommodation - modern, stylish...and delicious.

Located right on the banks of the lily-covered lagoon, home to hippo and a favourite drinking spot for elephant and buffalo, the big game quite literally comes to you. As tempting as it is to stay in camp, venture out you should, for Khwai offers one of Africa’s greatest and most exclusive safari experiences. Remember to have your binos ready for lion, leopard, wild dogs and more as you drive through the diverse landscapes.

The camp is not only sophisticated and sustainable but we’re also partnered with local communities in Khwai, which make up the majority of our staff. Proceeds from staying at Sable Alley go straight back into the Khwai Village community projects, as well as various wildlife initiatives.
