There's no better place to take your photographic knowledge to the next level than this wildlife-rich private concession in the most southern corner of the Kruger National Park and home to the Big Five and more. This African Safari Guru photo safari workshops ultimate aim is to help our CLIENTS become a better and more confident wildlife photographer designed for anyone who loves wildlife, safari and photography.
The workshop is based around a single objective, to help you take better wildlife images and over the duration of the workshop we will aim is to cover multiple sections, establishing a deeper connection not only with your photographic ability but with wildlife and nature as a whole. The workshop has been created in such a way, that each individual will receive equal personal attention throughout the safari by having our Specialist Southern Africa renowned Professional Photographer, Photoman Pierre Bassani on site for the safari, allowing for ample opportunity to learn from and be inspired by his incredible passion and expertise in capturing Africa's natural nature.
Purposefully based in one of the most prolific game viewing areas in Southern Africa, the Shishangeni concession sets the stage for one of the best wildlife photography workshops on offer due to its abundant and diverse wildlife especially the Big Cats.

The southern area of South Africa’s most famous game reserve, the Kruger National Pak, is separated from lush farmland by the Crocodile River, a popular area to spot crocodiles, playful hippos and thirsty wildlife. The game viewing area is known as the ‘Southern Circle’ and is renowned for its rhinos and lions, with different prides boasting an array of different hunting techniques and behaviours to observe. Near the Hippo Pool, visitors can view ancient San rock paintings. The Southern Kruger offers incredible game-viewing opportunities and magnificent landscapes covered in African bushveld and savannah.
Itineraries
Day 1
Marloth Park Conservancy

Arrive at OR Tambo International Airport and connect to KMIA Nelspruit where an African Safari Guru representative will be waiting to welcome you and transfer you by road on a short comfortable road transfer to a nearby bush lodge called Grace Of Africa for an overlay.
Late afternoon we will all gather and an Introduction by Pierre Bassani Photoman, photo safari guide and expedition tour leader will take place around the boma area.
Dinner is served under the African Skies (Weather Permitted)
Day 2
SOUTHERN KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Morning rise
Checkout and depart for breakfast served at the Amazing Kruger View Restaurant overlooking the Crocodile River and into the Kruger.
Depart from the restaurant mid-morning en-route to Shishangeni Concession located in the most southern boundary of the Kruger National Park
Upon arrival at Camp Shawu a staff member will check you in and show your around camp before settling into your tented suite overlooking the dam with the Lebombo Mountain range in the horizon.
Late afternoon/night photo safari game drive with a Mid-way stop for sundowners (We take this break dependant on the situation using the golden light at dusk first) before returning back Camp Shawu by night fall
Pre-dinner drinks – sit around the boma fire or bar while you socialise and talk of your amazing wildlife sightings and wildlife images with dinner served under the African skies (Weather permitted)
Day 3-7
SOUTHERN KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Early morning rise with nature calling on your doorstep meeting up at the main lodge with Pierre Bassani Photoman, guide and tracker for some coffee/tea and rusks before departing from camp on our morning photo safari experience as the sunrises for that superb golden light and when the wildlife are generally active (Mid-way morning coffee/tea break - We take this break dependant on the situation using the golden light at dawn first) before returning back to the camp +- 3-4 hours later for a well-deserved breakfast.
In-between game drive activities Pierre Bassani Photoman will be at the main lodge to host a 2-hour image review and group editing sessions. For this to be truly effective you will need to have your own laptop with the latest version of an editing programme installed and updated of which we recommend Adobe Lightroom.
Late afternoon/night photo safari game drive (Mid-way stop for sundowners - We take this break dependant on the situation using the golden light at dusk first) before returning back to Camp Shawu by night fall

Day 8
END OF PHOTO SAFARI

Early morning rise with nature calling on your doorstep meeting up at the main lodge with Pierre Bassani Photoman, and our dedicated field guide for some coffee/tea and rusks before departing from camp on our morning photo safari experience as the sunrises for that superb golden light and when the wildlife are generally active (Mid-way morning coffee/tea break - We take this break dependant on the situation using the golden light at dawn) before returning back to the camp +- 3-4 hours later for a well-deserved breakfast.
Depart from Camp Shawu on a shortish comfortable road transfer to Skukuza Kruger Airport for your connecting flight back to OR Tambo Int. Airport and homebound.

Named after the magnificent African elephant, the ‘Shawu bull’ who roamed the Kruger National Park valley for sixty years, Camp Shawu captures the spiritual presence of the bush with an elegant and intimate accommodation camp with buffalo dung walls, leather furniture, fire places and private decks overlooking the Mpanamana Dam.
